“Approval time” and “when should I apply?” are different questions. The processing range can be as short as one hour, but Benin still recommends leaving at least seven days before the intended entry date.
Approval time is not a promise
The official FAQ says processing can take one to 96 hours. The word “can” matters: it describes the possible range rather than guaranteeing a decision at a chosen hour.
Do not build a flight connection around the assumption that the shortest processing time will occur.
Submission date matters more than optimism
Benin recommends applying at least seven days before entry. That is the safer figure to use when deciding when the visa task belongs on the travel checklist.
A late application may still be processed within the published range, but it leaves little room for problems.
Track instead of duplicating
After confirmed payment, use the application number sent by email to check status.
Submitting duplicate applications because approval is not immediate can create more confusion than patience and proper tracking.

For passport-specific guidance, return to the nationality hub. If your trip details are settled and a visa is required, continue to the application.
